Nicole Sumerlyn is a Canadian recording artist who represents the Country genre to the best of her abilities in winning effort. Originally written in 2017, the singer decided to record and release the wonderful production that is 'Hostage' in 2022. Her latest single 'Hostage' is received well by critics and has been a notable track since its release.

Sumerlyn has shared in an interview that it's an autobiographic release and that the song offered reflection, peace and closure. Throughout the entire production, you can hear Sumerlyn's emotions. If you listen closely, the vocal production even shows Sumerlyn's growth from being held hostage to an independent woman. Where the vocals sound emotional at first, they end up in confident and powerhouse vocals. Sumerlyn definitely convinced us by the end of the song that she is not a lady to be messed with.
