Rx, born Richelle Alleyne, is a Canadian artist and songwriter of Black and Indian descent. She began her musical journey at the tender age of 7 and taught herself to play the guitar by 15. Growing up in Toronto, she started by writing for local artists and performing at open mic events, laying the foundation for her creative career.
Big Break
In 2018, Rx took a leap of faith and traveled to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams. Her gamble paid off when she earned her first major placement as a co-writer on BTS’s hit song “My Time” which appeared on their multi-platinum album Map of the Soul: 7. The album was a global sensation, winning numerous awards including the People’s Choice Award for Album of the Year in 2020 and setting records for pre-sales.
Mentorships
Returning to Canada, Rx continued her artistic growth through a mentorship with Ableton, supported by The SOCAN Foundation and RBC. She honed her skills in home recording and production. In the summer of 2021, her talent was recognized on TikTok, leading to an invitation from Tor Hermansen of Stargate to return to Los Angeles. At LAAMP, she received guidance from industry giants like Ne-Yo, Cirkut, Emily Warren, Jenna Andrews, and Charlie XCX.
